SoundCrit rethinks artistic feedback through listening
SoundCrit is open to music producers, music makers, and songwriters who want to develop their artistic ear and receive constructive, fair feedback on their work.
Instead of analyzing a work as a product or performance, the team of professionals will explore how we perceive it: how sound shapes time, space, and imagination.

The SoundCrit practice draws on the ideas of Salomé Voegelin, a leading thinker in sound studies.

As she argues: "Listening is an invisible engagement; it produces knowledge not by seeing what is there, but by sensing what could be."

Every listener constructs a temporary world through sound. We translate this idea into method.

Open Call
We invite artists to submit tracks (up to 10 mins) via Open Call with a few lines of context.

The works are anonymized and played in sequence.

Listeners provide feedback before knowing the author. All comments must be specific, generous, and honest.

Only at the end does the author reveal themselves and add reflections.

We use a methodology designed to ensure multi-layered feedback:
  • Descriptive Listening: What you literally heard (textures, rhythm, space, tone).
  • Emotional Listening: What the sound made you feel or remember.
  • Critical Listening: What seemed strong, unclear, or missing.
