New Year at the Philharmonia — Multiverse: Home for Realities
For one night, the Philharmonia becomes a Home for Realities — a constellation of temporary worlds created by different teams. Visitors move through the building, entering atmospheres, gestures, rituals, and sounds that form one shared New Year celebration.
Each team creates one home — a time-based environment with its own mood, structure, and way of welcoming the night.

All homes run simultaneously from 19:00 to 23:00. After 23:00 the hosq “home” will appear!
What will happen?
The State Philharmonia of Armenia is not just a concert hall.

Across more than a century, it has been a parliament, a public library, a House of Culture, a place where people meet to listen, think, and be together.

In Armenian tradition, New Year is a sequence of visits: people go from home to home, shifting between being guests and hosts.

The first visitor brings luck for the year ahead.

We bring this logic into the Philharmonia: for one night, the entire building becomes one large home filled with different home-realities.

Teams become hosts; guests move freely between worlds.
What is the Timeline of the Evening?
  • All homes open and run in parallel from 19:00 to 23:00. Inside each home it's own timing: performances, live sets, readings, rituals, screenings, games — as the team wishes.
  • 23:00–00:00 — collective jam with a conductor working in broad gestures.
  • 00:00–02:00 — hosq “home”
What You Create?
The Philharmonia is divided into several homes: foyers, corridors, rooms, pockets, transitions.

Your home can take one of three approaches:
1. Immersive. Atmosphere built through sound, light, movement, silence, or sensory detail.
2. Play. Interactive environment shaped by rule, gesture, mission, or collective action.
3. Party. A social space shaped by rhythm, hosting, and how you gather people.
Every home forms a distinct micro-reality inside the night.

Examples:
  • kitchen gathering with warmth and conversation;
  • small club with live sets and lighting;
  • deep-listening room;
  • ritual space with text and action;
  • laboratory where visitors participate;
  • folk moment merging traditional and electronic sound;
  • an almost empty white quiet room.

There is no correct style — only an honest reality you are ready to host.
Will there be Support for Selected Groups?
Yes. The supported groups will receive:

  • 250 000 mini-grant;
  • A zone inside the The State Philharmonia of Armenia (assigned by random draw);
  • Basic equipment support when possible;
  • Shared coordination meetings;
  • One group meeting after selection to refine ideas, align the framework, and help shape descriptions and manifestos.
What Selected Teams Will Create?
After selection, each team prepares its own home.

1. Home Name & Tagline
A name (place, mood, invented world) + short tagline (1–2 sentences).

2. Home Description (200–300 words)
  • themes, states, questions;
  • your view of New Year (transition, reset, new cycle);
  • how your home corresponds to “life, its diversity, interaction of differences.”

3. Manifesto / Code / Instructions. Choose or mix:
  • short manifesto (5–7 points),
  • code of behavior,
  • instructions for entering, listening, engaging.

4. Spatial & Sensory Concept. One integrated vision for how your home looks, sounds, feels, and works:
  • layout and movement;
  • light, atmosphere, projections;
  • objects, textiles, furniture, signs;
  • ambience, soundscape, tracks, live elements, silence;
  • visual language: graphics, fonts, colors, text fragments;
  • no drilling, painting, or irreversible materials.

5. Treat
One drink and/or non-messy snack connected to the concept.

6. Participatory Mechanism. At least one element that turns guests into co-creators:
  • entrance ritual;
  • small task;
  • collective gesture or sound;
  • gathering drawings, phrases, intentions.
Who Can Apply?
We invite:
artists, musicians, sound artists, performers, actors, directors, choreographers, visual artists, VJs, media/light designers, architects, scenographers, spatial designers, writers, poets, philosophers, curators — and anyone who works with sound, light, bodies, text, technology, or social experience.

Team size: minimum 2 people.

Focus on hosq community members, but open to new collectives.
What's the Tone of the Event?
Multiverse: Home for Realities celebrates presence, warmth, diversity, imagination, and the layered nature of being together.

Each home becomes a distinct moment inside one shared building — many realities under one roof.
What are the Important Conditions?
  1. Event is 18+, according to Armenian law.
  2. Alcohol only for adults; no unsafe drinking.
  3. No violence, discrimination, humiliation, or toxic behavior.
  4. Care for the building, equipment, and people.
  5. Teams must be ready to:
  • arrive early for setup;
  • keep their home alive for the full 4 hours;
  • join the collective finale.
