  • Dima Ustinov
    Lecturer
Berlin-based musician working with piano, electronics, improvisation, and participatory art forms.

His practice centers on music as a spatial and transformative experience: from solo performances for “augmented piano” and immersive audiovisual works to long-duration installations and collective music happenings that invite deep listening and shared presence. Rather than treating composition as fixed construction, Ustinov approaches music as a living flow shaped by attention, place, and inner state, balancing structure with spontaneity, system with chaos. Drawing on backgrounds in experimental electronic music, live performance, sound art, and facilitation, he creates works that function as environments for reflection, connection, and altered perception.

Music as a spiritual practice for everyone
Lecture and a concert afterwards
How can music become a way of restoring connection — to self, to others, to meaning — in a time of fragmentation?
We will not talk about “sacred music” in a religious or stylistic sense. We will be talking about the quality of the relationship we have with music.

Music originally belongs to a deeper layer of human experience: ritual, connection, attention, transformation, meaning. Over time, modern culture has reduced it to a product, entertainment, a career tool, a content stream, or a cultural commodity. But the older function did not disappear — it became obscured. Musicians still feel it, even if they do not always have language for it.

This meeting is dedicated to music not as a product or piece of content, but as a way to reconnect with oneself, with others, and with a deeper sense of meaning.
Drawing on his own artistic path and work with other musicians, Dima Ustinov explores how music can regain its sacred function: as a practice of presence, inner alignment, and transformation. The session combines personal reflection, practical ideas, and simple shared exercises.

Right after the lecture, there will be a concert presenting Dima’s new album "Music for a Really Long Walk"
