  • Arek Keshishian
Senior Design Architect at TUMO Center for Creative Technologies
Arek Keshishian is a multidisciplinary architect and designer working at the intersection of architecture, technology, and fabrication. His practice explores new and alternative ways of designing and building through computation, data-driven workflows, digital sculpting, and artificial intelligence, pushing geometric expression while improving efficiency from concept to execution.

Through this approach, he has helped advance computational and geometric design within the Armenian architectural scene, translating experimental methods into built and fabricated projects. His design and build highlights include the Scenius Lounge at the Katapult Creative Industries Expo, the Rethink Pavilion commissioned by UNDP Armenia, and the Levity Installation at Nerka Design Exhibition.

He currently works at TUMO Center for Creative Technologies as a Senior Design Architect, contributing to the design and development of TUMO’s international and local centers.

From Computation to Realization
In this lecture, Arek Keshishian explores the evolving relationship between architecture, technology, and fabrication, focusing on how computational design, data-driven workflows, digital sculpting, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the way we design and build.

The lecture begins with the references and inspirations that shaped his approach to computational design, from pioneers such as Antoni Gaudí and Frei Otto to contemporary projects that push the boundaries of geometry, material behavior, and construction logic. It then introduces the principles behind computational and data-driven design, positioning these methods as a bridge between experimentation, planning, fabrication, and execution.

Through three built projects — the Scenius Lounge at the Katapult Creative Industries Expo, the Rethink Pavilion commissioned by UNDP Armenia, and the Levity Installation at Nerka Design Exhibition — the lecture traces the journey from concept to realization, unpacking the design process, planning strategy, building workflow, challenges encountered, and the solutions that brought each project to life.
