Basic Sound Synthesis #2
Lecture: Sound as a Way of Thinking: Emotion, Structure, Atmosphere
What does it really mean to design sound?
Not just to create music, but to sculpt emotion, build atmosphere, and tell stories through texture, space, and rhythm.
Join us for the second session in hosq’s Basic Sound Synthesis series: this time with Shahen Khandkaryan (aka Shhau), a Yerevan-based music producer, composer, and sound designer who has created sonic worlds for films, games, and live performances.
Shhau began his musical journey at age 10 with drums, moved into electronic music production, and later studied musicology and composition at the Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory. His work lives at the intersection of experimentation and precision, emotion and form.
In this lecture, he’ll share his approach to sound design in practice: from conceptual thinking to production tools. It’s an invitation to step inside the process and mindset of a working sound designer.
Whether you’re a musician, composer, producer, or just fascinated by how sound moves us… this session will offer insight and inspiration.
